Explanation

Answer: I and III only

Deduce the seating.

  • AA is in XX (given).
  • "Only EE travels with GG" → EE and GG share a car alone (just the two of them).
  • CC is in ZZ.
  • $B

otin YandandB

eq Ascar,so's car, so Bisinis inZ$.

  • E,GE, G cannot be in ZZ (else CC would be with them, contradicting "only EE with GG"). So E,GE, G are in YY.
  • XX must hold AA + two others. The only people left are DD and FF, so X={A,D,F}X = \{A, D, F\}.

Final assignment:

  • X={A,D,F}X = \{A, D, F\}
  • Y={E,G}Y = \{E, G\}
  • Z={B,C}Z = \{B, C\}

Check the statements.

  • I. No one travels alone. Smallest car has 2 people. ✓ True
  • II. Only DD travels with FF. FF is in XX with both AA and DD, so FF has two companions. ✗ False
  • III. Only CC travels with BB. Z={B,C}Z = \{B, C\}, so BB's sole companion is CC. ✓ True
