In a class, 60% of students are from India and 50% of the students are girls. If 30% of the Indian students are girls, then what percentage of foreign students are boys?

Select an option to attempt

Explanation

Let total number of students in the class be 100.

Indian students = 60%60\% of 100=60100 = 60

So, foreign students = 10060=40100 – 60 = 40 students

Total number of girls students = 50%50\% of 100=50100 = 50

According to the question,

Total number of Indian girl students = 30%30\% of 60=1860 = 18 students

So, foreign girl students = 5018=3250 – 18 = 32

As total foreign students = 40

So, foreign boy students = 4032=840 - 32 = 8

So, percentage of boys among foreign students = (840)×100=20%(\frac{8}{40}) \times 100 = 20\%

Hence, option (D) is the correct answer.
