DPIIT's ODOP initiative boosts 1,244 unique products across 773 districts, leveraging PMFME, Unity Malls, and GeM for market access and global exports.
The One District One Product (ODOP) initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has identified 1,244 unique products across 773 districts.
Its aim is to select, brand, and promote at least one product from each district to foster holistic growth.
The Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) provides up to ₹200 crore per State/UT with legislatures for establishing PM Ekta Malls (Unity Malls) to promote ODOP, GI, and local handicrafts.
The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme adopts an ODOP approach, offering a 35% credit-linked capital subsidy (max ₹10 lakhs) and support for branding and marketing.
The Districts as Export Hubs initiative has identified export-potential products in 734 districts and established State Export Promotion Committees (SEPCs) and District Export Promotion Committees (DEPCs).
Market access for ODOP products is facilitated through a dedicated storefront on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and international promotion via the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Indian Missions abroad.
Detailed Insights:
The selection of ODOP products is undertaken by the respective State/UT Governments, ensuring local relevance.
Promotion efforts include facilitating participation in domestic and international exhibitions and e-commerce onboarding drives.
PMFME Scheme also provides seed capital support to Self-Help Group (SHG) members and assistance for common infrastructure and incubation centers.
No district-specific financial allocation is made under the ODOP initiative; States/UTs leverage existing Central and State schemes.
PMFME promotes convergence with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare for backward linkages and with APEDA and Department of Fisheries for forward linkages.
24 common ODOP product clusters have been identified with APEDA and 7 fish and marine product clusters with MPEDA for export promotion.
Under the Districts as Export Hubs initiative, 249 District Export Action Plans (DEAPs) have been adopted to streamline the value chain from production to export.
Over 500 ODOP product categories covering more than 1,300 products are available on GeM for procurement.
International promotion includes setting up ODOP Walls at Indian Missions and selling products through international retail stores.
The initiative contributes to promoting local products, improving market access, encouraging entrepreneurship, and supporting employment generation.
