The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 31 additional applications under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).
These new approvals entail a proposed investment of Rs 7,877 crore and are expected to generate production worth Rs 82,243 crore.
The projects are projected to create close to 10,000 direct jobs across 10 states.
With this, a total of 106 applications have been approved under the scheme, covering approximately 30 product categories across 15 states.
Cumulative proposed investment under ECMS has reached Rs 69,548 crore, surpassing the original target of Rs 59,380 crore.
Expected cumulative production from these projects stands at Rs 5.34 lakh crore, exceeding the initial target of Rs 4.56 lakh crore.

Detailed Insights:
The ECMS aims to deepen domestic manufacturing capabilities beyond finished electronic products to include components and sub-assemblies.
The scheme was launched in April 2025 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to foster a self-sustaining electronics component ecosystem.
It offers differentiated fiscal incentives, including turnover-linked, capex-linked, or hybrid models, with a portion tied to employment generation.
The ECMS has a six-year tenure, with a one-year gestation period for turnover-linked incentives.
Target segments include capital goods, camera and display modules, anode materials, enclosures, connectors, and various other bare components.
The scheme is critical for India's vision to establish a USD 500-billion domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem by 2030-31.
Several projects approved earlier, such as ATLs lithium-ion cell facilities and Tata Electronics’ enclosure plant, are already operational.
The ECMS complements other government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for large-scale electronics manufacturing.
Key Concepts Involved:
