Prelims 2025

In a certain code if 64 is written as 343 and 216 is written as 729, then how is 512 written in that code ?

Select an option to attempt

Explanation

Recognize the numbers as cubes: 64=4364 = 4^3 → coded as 343=73343 = 7^3 216=63216 = 6^3 → coded as 729=93729 = 9^3

Each base is increased by 3 before cubing: 4477 (4+34+3), 6699 (6+36+3)

Apply same rule to 512: 512=83512 = 8^3(8+3)3=113=1331(8+3)^3 = 11^3 = 1331

Therefore code for 512 is 1331.
