Carbofuran, methyl parathion, phorate, and triazophos are highly toxic pesticides (specifically organophosphates and carbamates) used in agriculture. These chemicals are viewed with apprehension due to their acute toxicity and harmful effects on human health, non-target organisms, and the environment. Based on the recommendations of the Anupam Verma Committee, which reviewed 66 pesticides that were banned or restricted in other countries but continued to be used in India, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare issued notifications to ban or phase out these specific hazardous substances to ensure safety in the agricultural sector.
