Explanation

The Simon Commission, officially known as the Indian Statutory Commission, was appointed in 1927 to review the working of the Government of India Act, 1919. The primary reason for the intense agitation and the slogan "Simon Go Back" was that the commission consisted of seven British Members of Parliament and had no Indian members. This exclusion was seen as a violation of the principle of self-determination and an insult to the self-respect of Indians, as an all-white body was tasked with deciding India's constitutional future.
