CSIR-NAL launched the production version of the indigenous Hansa-3(NG) trainer aircraft on Saturday.
Pioneer Clean Amps will manufacture the two-seater Hansa-3 planes at its facility in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh.
The facility represents an investment of ₹150 crore and aims to produce 100 aircraft annually.
Hansa-3(NG) is designed to meet the growing demand for Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training.
Detailed Insights:
The Hansa-3 features an all-composite airframe and is an upgraded version of the original design from the early 1990s.
India is projected to need approximately 30,000 pilots in the next 15-20 years, and the Hansa-3(NG) aims to address this demand with indigenous technology.
CSIR-NAL is also developing the SARAS Mk-2, a 19-seater Light Transport Aircraft for both civilian and military use, to improve regional connectivity.
The SARAS Mk-2 will feature a pressurized cabin, digital avionics, and command-by-wire flight controls to meet India’s short-haul passenger aircraft needs.
The newly inaugurated Iron Bird Facility will be used for full-system integration, ground testing, and validation of the SARAS Mk-2 aircraft subsystems.
