Adani Defence & Aerospace and Embraer plan to establish a final assembly line for E175 regional jets in India.
An enhanced MoU was exchanged between the firms in New Delhi in the presence of Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday.
The E175 aircraft can accommodate up to 88 passengers and will improve regional air connectivity by connecting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Detailed Insights:
The strategic collaboration, initially announced on January 27, aims to develop an Integrated Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) ecosystem in India.
The E175 aircraft is designed for short-to-medium-range flights, making it suitable for connecting smaller cities and towns.
This initiative aligns with the government's UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, which seeks to enhance air connectivity to underserved regions and make air travel more affordable.
Key Concepts Involved:
MoU (Memorandum of Understanding): A non-binding agreement outlining the intentions of parties to work together.
Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN: A government initiative to enhance air connectivity to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
