A new NSG hub is being established in Ayodhya to strengthen counter-terror response in the region.
The announcement was made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the 41st Raising Day event of the NSG in Manesar.
Six NSG hubs already exist in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Jammu.
The foundation stone for the Special Operations Training Centre (SOTC) was laid, being built on eight acres of land at a cost of Rs 141 crore.
Detailed Insights:
The establishment of the Ayodhya NSG hub is part of the Centre’s plan to overhaul the operational framework of the National Security Guard (NSG) with expanded regional readiness.
The NSG commandos at the Ayodhya hub will be ready to provide a strong response to any sudden terrorist attack in the zone.
The Special Operations Training Centre (SOTC) will provide state-of-the-art training to special commandos combating terrorism, including anti-terror units of state police forces across the country.
Ayodhya was previously hit by a terror attack on July 5, 2005, when five Jaish-e-Mohammad operatives tried to storm the makeshift temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi site.
