PM GatiShakti National Master Plan Completes Five Years of Transforming India’s Infrastructure Landscape
PM GatiShakti National Master Plan completes five years, transforming India's infrastructure through integrated planning, geospatial technology, and enhanced logistics efficiency.
The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS NMP), launched in October 2021, is completing five years of integrated infrastructure planning and development.
A geospatial digital platform, developed by BISAG-N under Atmanirbhar Bharat, integrates over 1,800 data layers from 58 Central Ministries and 36 States/UTs.
The Network Planning Group (NPG) evaluated over 400 infrastructure projects worth approximately ₹20.23 lakh crore based on PM GatiShakti principles.
The plan expanded beyond conventional infrastructure to support social-sector development and district-level planning for essential services.
The Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority (ITLA) has been approved to strengthen research, planning, and assessment in transport and logistics.
Detailed Insights:
PMGS NMP aims to bring synergy across Ministries/Departments and States/UTs, establishing a Whole-of-Government approach to infrastructure planning.
It has evolved into a comprehensive geospatial planning ecosystem supporting infrastructure, economic, and social-sector development.
The platform facilitated the development of over 65 software modules/tools and 100+ mobile/web applications for data-driven planning.
The PM GatiShakti Public platform, through the Unified Geospatial Interface (UGI), was launched in September 2025, extending capabilities to private entities and the public.
Supporting systems include the Knowledge Management System (KMS), Decentralized Data Uploading and Management System (DUMS), and PMGS-NMP Dashboard for data governance and monitoring.
ITLA will play a pivotal role in strengthening multimodal infrastructure connectivity, reducing logistics costs, and enhancing India’s global competitiveness.
The initiative contributes to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by fostering an integrated, efficient, and future-ready transport and logistics ecosystem.
