A Badri female calf was successfully born on 11 September 2026, using Ovum Pick-Up and In Vitro Fertilization (OPU-IVF) technology.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for the conservation and genetic improvement of Badri cattle, an indigenous breed and state animal of Uttarakhand.
The calf was born from a Badri embryo transferred into a Sahiwal recipient cow.
The project is a collaborative effort between ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (ICAR-NDRI), Karnal, and G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar.
