UIDAI Launches Aadhaar Face Authentication SDK and Sandbox at Global Fintech Fest 2026
UIDAI unveils Aadhaar Face Authentication SDK and Sandbox at Global Fintech Fest, streamlining secure digital services and user onboarding for government and financial sectors.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched the Aadhaar Face Authentication SDK and Aadhaar Face Authentication Sandbox at the Global Fintech Fest 2026.
These tools enable ecosystem partners to seamlessly integrate, test, and deploy Aadhaar Face Authentication within their digital applications.
The SDK allows direct integration into native Android and iOS apps, providing a single-app authentication experience with AI/ML-based liveness and anti-spoofing.
The Sandbox offers a secure environment for organizations to integrate, test, and validate the complete Face Authentication journey before production.
UIDAI's AI/ML-driven Face Authentication, launched in 2021, has processed over 500 crore transactions and received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2023.
A "Playbook on ease of Onboarding" was also unveiled to guide BFSI entities in joining the UIDAI authentication ecosystem.
Detailed Insights:
The new SDK eliminates the need for users to switch between applications, simplifying the user onboarding process for services.
It supports secure handling and encryption of authentication data, designed to work across various consumer smartphones.
The Sandbox allows developers to test key stages like user provisioning, consent, face capture, liveness checks, and error handling without external biometric hardware.
This initiative addresses a long-standing demand from the Fintech and banking sectors for a seamless and secure user onboarding journey.
The previous requirement of a separate FaceRD app for Aadhaar Face Authentication is now reduced, streamlining the user experience.
Aadhaar Face Authentication is widely used for services such as Jeevan Pramaan, Ayushman Bharat onboarding, DBT schemes, and PM Kisan.
