The Indian Coast Guard conducted the 12th National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX-2026) off Paradip, Odisha.
The exercise, held on October 08, 2026, focused on “Leveraging Technology to Strengthen SAR Preparedness and Maritime Safety”.
It involved participation from 32 observers representing 30 countries, fostering international cooperation.
A Mass Rescue Operation (MRO) scenario was simulated, involving an aircraft ditching and impacting a container vessel.
Assets deployed included 15 Coast Guard ships, IAF C-130J and Mi-17 aircraft, and two Indian Navy ships.
